After Aberdeen International Youth Festival 2010

What an experience it was! Miyanda had the time of their young lives - they performed all over northern Scotland and were the sweethearts of the festival. They drummed, they danced, they sang and they represented Canada, Africa and themselves with the highest of respect and with a 150% committment. Their parents can never be prouder and their fans here in Canada would have been too. It was a summer to remember. For all of you who gave of yourselves, of your pockets and of your positive energy to this project and to the collective spirit of Miyanda - we THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS! It takes a village...

It has been my honour and privilege to be a part of Miyanda. I want to thank the girls - all of them - Mimi, Kaly, Natasha, Aisha, Shanille, Esther, Soleil, Nadjema, Darielle, Danae, Cyan and AJ - for their years of committment, hard-work and stunning talents and personalities. You have taught me well.

I also want to thank the parents of Miyanda - Fana, Limpho, Colleen, Nola, Norm, Ingrid, Kara, Darren, Marion, Chester, Sherry and Lori - for EVERYTHING. Standing behind great kids are greater parents. I would also like to shout out to the heavens a thank you to a steadfast Miyanda supporter and Grandmother, Birgit Okoth, may you rest in peace.

It's been wild. And I loved it.
